At the Atascadero Police Foundation(APF), we proudly support the remarkable service of our local officers and the broader SLO community of veterans. Recently, we had the distinct privilege of sponsoring Atascadero Police Officer Tim Perkins, a combat Marine veteran, to serve as a guardian on a “Tour of Honor” with Honor Flight Central Coast.
The Honor Flight Network is dedicated to arranging trips for veterans to visit the memorials in Washington D.C. For the May 2024 flight, Honor Flight Central Coast selected 80 local veterans to participate at no cost. However, each veteran needed a guardian to accompany them, and these guardians were responsible for their own expenses. Veterans depend on these volunteer guardians to ensure their participation in the trip, and these guardians play a crucial role in making the experience safe and memorable. The APF was proud to sponsor Officer Tim Perkins as a 2024″Tour of Honor” Guardian. This opportunity paired Officer Perkins with a Vietnam War veteran, allowing two heroes from different eras a unique experience they will never forget .
